If your loking to buy may i suggest that you keep in mind the value of a used bike such as the savage? For an 1999 average kept up bike I would not pay more than say 2600 to 2800 . As for a below average: small dents, blemishes and fading of the high gloss on the paint or just fading of the color itself, may some what run around 1900 to 2100. Now for one that is in excellant condition; being that it must look new, run well, engine, exhaust, chromed parts all having a high shine , cables not giving in to crackes and drying out, cost may go 2900 to 3100 . This being a strictly stock bike with no add ons.
You may do a search for Nada guides and Blue Book values and give yourself a good feel for what to expect.
The savage is a great beginners bike but I really think one never really out grows it. This type of bike introduces people into the world of motocycling in the right way. It really does.
